3 Reasons Michigan Football Can Reach the College Football Playoffs Again

The Michigan football program is trying to secure a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive year. Only Clemson and Alabama have the most consecutive appearances. They’ll have to beat about three other teams that are also favorites to make the tournament. So how will Sherrone Moore’s regime accomplish this rare feat? Here are three reasons why they can do it again.

Even without their quarterback Rod Moore on defense, Wink Martindale’s team will still be in the conversation with the Ohio State and Georgia of the world. They simply have too much talent back and will play the same system that has seen them succeed over the past three years. This will make Martindale’s transition smoother than if he were to move to the NFL.

The Michigan football secondary has a lot of depth with the new transfers and will be tested against Quinn Ewers, Dillon Gabriel and Will Rogers. The defensive line should be top 10 or better against the run with the two run stuffers under center. If one had to identify a weakness on defense, it would be the linebackers with the new starters there, but they have played crucial minutes at Big Ten schools in the past.
