GCC chief condemns Israeli attack on UNRWA school in Gaza Strip

(MENAFN – Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, July 6 (KUNA) – GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi condemned the bombing of Al-Jaouni boys’ school in Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip by Israeli occupation forces early Saturday as a “barbaric crime.”
The school, run by the UNRWA relief agency, was converted into accommodation for around 6,000 people who had lost their homes due to the ongoing attacks by the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip.
“The barbaric attack proves once again the persistence of Israeli occupation forces in directly attacking innocent displaced people in the Gaza Strip and all of Palestine,” Al-Budaiwi said in a press release.
“This blatant violation of international conventions and humanitarian law amounts to a war crime and demonstrates the serious criminal conduct of the Israeli occupation forces,” he stressed.
Al-Budawi called on the international community to intervene immediately, force a cessation of hostilities by the Israeli occupation and bring those responsible to justice.
He reiterated the GCC states’ support for the just cause of Palestine and vowed to do his utmost to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people.
According to UNRWA, at least 35 people were killed and dozens more injured in the Israeli bombing of the school. (End)
