Sam’s Club member ‘cannot justify retaining membership’ after benefit is no longer free

A member of the SAM’S Club is dissatisfied because a once free member benefit now costs something.

On Facebook, the customer expressed her disappointment and possibly canceled her membership.

Terese Johnson Helberg, a loyal member of Sam’s Club Plus, recently expressed her dissatisfaction with the changes to Plus membership benefits in a Facebook post.

Helberg, who has been a member for years, emphasized that she does not live near a Sam’s Club branch and therefore cannot benefit from the same-day delivery service.

She frequently orders items for herself, her elderly parents and in-laws, often falling short of the new $50 minimum order requirement for free shipping.

Helberg stressed that she was unhappy with the $8 shipping fee now charged on orders below the minimum purchase amount, a cost that was previously covered by her $100/year membership.

“Because of these changes, it will be difficult for me to justify maintaining my membership.

“Will probably have to cancel and rely on Costco for all the items I used to love buying at Sam’s Club!” she wrote.

Sam’s Club then acknowledged Helberg’s feedback and assured her that it would be forwarded to the appropriate department.

They invited her to contact them for further support and thanked her for her membership.

Helberg responded to a comment from someone who read her post and asked her how to cancel her account.

“I haven’t canceled yet, but I’ve turned off automatic renewal so that I can decide for myself when my membership is due again,” Helberg replied.

“Not enforced at all,” says Sam’s Club fan, as circumvention of little-known membership rule allows friends to shop

It is currently unknown whether Helberg has terminated her membership.

CLUB VS PLUS AT SAM’S

Sam’s Club has two membership levels: Club and Plus.

Club offers the customer access to Sam’s Club stores, gift card discounts, gasoline, auto services, home services and free eye and hearing exams, as well as discounts on prescriptions reserved only for members.

Club membership costs $50, but there is a promotion running through July 7 where you can join for $20.

Plus members, on the other hand, enjoy all of the above perks and more for $110 per year (or $60 through July 7), according to Sam’s Club.

Firstly, Plus members can shop at the retailer earlier than Club members. The warehouse opens at 10 a.m., but Plus members can start their shopping spree as early as 8 a.m. from Monday to Saturday.

You can also take advantage of free curbside pickup, where an employee will load your order directly into your car.

For same-day home delivery, Plus members can have their orders delivered until 1 p.m. for a fee of $8.

Plus members also receive exclusive free shipping on most online items with no minimum purchase, although some restrictions apply.

Meanwhile, a Sam’s Club customer has expressed dissatisfaction with the enforcement of membership rules, which he believes do not meet his expectations.

And Sam’s Club has a little-known policy that requires customers to pay an additional charge to shop at certain times.
