Chris Jericho reflects in detail on his surprise CMLL appearance at Arena Mexico on June 28

Chris Jericho had a blast making a surprise appearance for CMLL last week.

In his first appearance at Arena Mexico in nearly two decades, appearing at the CMLL show on June 28, “The Learning Tree” attacked Mexican wrestling legend Mistico in an attempt to set up a future bout between the two.

“The thing I liked best was that I was there on a normal Friday night. There were about 12,000 people there, which is amazing,” he said. “The fans are just happy, they’re just excited. They cheer for the good guys and boo the bad guys and they’re not chanting ‘You messed up’ and they’re not worrying about how many tickets were sold or what the ratings were and giving out stars or whatever. They were just enjoying the show. It was a real refresher for me and I’m really glad I did it.”

The longest reigning For The World Champion of all time continued, “Once again, it’s kind of the Chris Jericho cliche. There are people chanting ‘please stop’, which is great (laughs), and here I have Mexico, and that’s the number one place in wrestling. It was on the cover of all the magazines and I think there were probably 15 articles on all the different wrestling and sports sites that Jericho was back. So it’s a big deal, it would have been a great time to go there, and it gave me more momentum and excitement to come back. It’s just good to know that I can come back to this worldwide history that I have anytime, and now is the perfect time to do it. So muchas gracias, Arena Mexico, and we’ll see you all there very soon.”
