In a picturesque Hamptons village where Martha Stewart lives, there was an uproar over plans to open a New York nightspot popular with celebrities such as Taylor Swift.

The attempt to replace the 18th-century luxury hotel Hedges Inn in East Hampton with the popular social club Zero Bond sparked a strong reaction from local residents.

The angry residents tried to stop the plans with several public meetings led by the mayor.

After a series of meetings, they passed a new law that helped put plans for the club, which has already hosted celebrities such as Elon Musk, Tom Brady and Kim Kardashian, on hold.

The residents managed to enforce a curfew for all restaurants in the city from 11 p.m., thus thwarting the nightclub’s plans.

“Let’s face it, Zero Bond is actually a nightclub,” said community administrator Marcos Baladron at the May 17 meeting.

“If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it’s a duck, and no ducks are allowed here.”

But Scott Sartiano, the owner of Zero Bond, has now announced that he will convert the hotel into a branch of his celebrity-popular restaurant Sartiano’s.

“We don’t plan to open a private club in the Hamptons this summer, but you never know what the future holds,” he told the New York Post.

“You’ll have to wait and see.”

“I hope the authorities treat me the same as everyone else. This summer I’m concentrating solely on Sartiano’s and will be staying at The Hedges Inn for a very long time.”

Baladrón, East Hampton Village administrator, told The Hollywood Reporter: “Mr. Sartiano has watered down his proposal to simply make it an Italian restaurant. And if that’s the case, we’ll roll out the red carpet.”

“However, if his ultimate goal is to issue another zero bond, then I think the neighbors should be very cautious.”

Sartiano’s is scheduled to open on July 18 at the Hedges Inn.
