Love Island’s Joey Essex has a special rule that all islanders must follow

Since he joined the Love Island Joey Essex, who entered the villa earlier this month as the first celebrity bombshell of the year, was undoubtedly the star of the show.

Not only the TOWIE The star’s romantic escapades have left viewers spinning their heads in recent days – he did a 180-degree turn on his former partner Samantha Kenny by dumping her for his ex-girlfriend and latest new girl Grace Jackson – but his comedic timing has seemingly secured him his position as Class Clown of 2024.

And his new on-screen friends seem to agree with our claim. Recently dumped islander Patsy Field revealed that Joey imposed a hilarious new rule on the gang last week, which left them in fits of laughter.

If you are not aware of the recent goings-on in the posh Spanish love lodge, allow us to bring you up to speed.

When comedian Joey entered the villa for the first time in the debut episode earlier this month, causing shockwaves across the country, the 34-year-old’s eyes immediately fell on Liverpool-born make-up artist Samantha.

And after Joey stole her from Sheffield hairdresser Sam Taylor – which led to Sam Love Island the villa’s first evicted islander – it looked like it was a match made in heaven for the happily in love duo.

Last week, Joantha enjoyed a rather fancy date on a rooftop in central Mallorca, where they shared a French martini and tequila soda on ice before kissing.

Within hours, however, ITV producers threw an unexpected twist into the villa by bringing three new islanders into the house: 25-year-old HR coordinator Tiffany Leighton from Hertfordshire, 23-year-old construction estimator Wil Anderson from Whitley Bay and 25-year-old marketing agent Grace Jackson from Manchester.

And it quickly became clear that there was a connection between Joey and newcomer Grace that went back a long time: they had been each other’s Danny and Sandy last summer and had met on holiday in Ibiza.

After being sent to different villas to rehash the end of their relationship, it became clear that the two still had feelings for each other, resulting in Grace choosing Joey at the final reunion, but Samantha being left alone and kicked out of the villa.

However, as we say, it’s not just Joey’s controversial relationship history in the villa that has viewers talking, but also his typical lightheartedness towards his co-stars.

And according to Patsy, a jilted islander, just before she was evicted, Joey introduced a hilarious rule in ITV2’s Love Hut that his fellow cast members were sincerely expected to abide by.

Speaking to Closer, she recalled: “Everyone quoted TOWIE. All the girls quoted TOWIE.”

“Joey eventually banned us from quoting ‘TOWIE’ and said, ‘We have to drop it now.'”

“But we couldn’t help ourselves and said, ‘We’re not actually quoting TOWIE, we’re just quoting The GC (Gemma Collins).’

“She’s a living legend, so can you really blame us?”

We literally can’t, honey.
