The popular Jujutsu Kaisen “Sorcerer Killer” Toji Fushiguro is based on THIS Hollywood action star

Inspiration is hard to find, especially when writers are trying to bring exceptionally layered and complex characters to life. Despite these difficulties, established Jujutsu Kaisen mangaka Gege Akutami has created a large pantheon of fan-favorite characters in his masterpiece, which officially became the most sought-after anime series earlier this year.

Among its main characters, Toji Fushiguro is one such presence that makes Jujutsu Kaisen as popular as it is in the world. The infamous assassin dubbed the “Sorcerer Killer” is one of the main antagonists in the manga/anime franchise. The one-time rival of another popular character, Satoru Gojo – who makes fans bend over backwards to confess their love for him – is one of many anime icons that promote unrealistic male body and fitness standards.

Who was Toji Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen modeled after?

Akutami has now revealed why Toji, who left a lasting impression on JJK fans despite his brief appearance, has such an unforgettable physique. This is because his massive and robust body is modeled after the one and only Hollywood action movie star Jason Statham.

Fans received the big news from the series creator at a Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, and have been raving about it ever since. It comes a year after the badass character was introduced to the anime world.

“So this man got the whole world chasing Jason Statham’s physique,” wrote one fan.

Another commented: “Makes sense. This guy is a real daredevil.”

Countless fans immediately flocked to X/Twitter after well-known Jujutsu Kaisen content scoop @Go_Jover revealed Gege’s “master plan.”

Speechless otakus were amazed at the unexpected turn things had taken. “WOAHHHHH, I DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING.”

While some were surprised by the revelations, others immediately agreed with the seemingly fitting parallels between Toji and Statham.

The 56-year-old action icon is known for building his filmography around dark and violent themes. His tough face also reflects his inner martial artist. Reviving action films in the early 2000s, Statham led several successful explosive films such as the Transporter series, The Italian Job, Death Race, The Beekeeper and many more.

His more recent projects, which are inextricably linked to his Hollywood tough-guy identity, include ensemble blockbusters such as The Expendables and the Fast & Furious franchise. Finally, his character Deckard Shaw was blessed with the exclusive spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.
