Sabrina Carpenter talks about her relationship amid rumors of romance with Barry Keoghan

Sabrina Carpenter has shared her candid thoughts on relationships amid her alleged romance with Barry Keoghan.

The 24-year-old singer spoke in an interview with Cosmopolitanpublished on March 27. Carpenter was first linked to Keoghan in December after they were spotted in Los Angeles. Although they have been photographed together on other occasions since then, they have not confirmed whether they are dating.

Speak with CosmopolitanCarpenter expressed that she is not someone who is “actively looking for a relationship.” She then described the effort involved in dating and how she embraces the beginning stages of a romance.

“The relationships that I really want to put my energy into have to be so interesting or invigorating because they take me away from the other things that I love,” she said. “So yeah, it’s fun and it’s messy. I think I’m still at the point where I really enjoy the newness of it all.”

The “Feather” singer said she uses “one” dating app, but did not specify which one. While she said she usually “never opens it,” there are occasions when she uses it to see who is on there.

“But there were times when I just wanted to see that there were other people. I know that sounds weird,” she said. “Because when you’re on tour for a very long time, you just think, oh my God, there’s no one around.”

Carpenter, however, clarified that she has never met anyone from the app in person. “But I’ve never, ever, ever had a date through an app,” she explained. “It’s always just been fate and coincidence, people I meet or connect with through friends and things like that.”

According to the “Vicious” singer, her attitude towards dating has changed over the years as she believes that every relationship is valuable, no matter how long it lasts.

“When I was younger, I always thought, ‘Why would I date this person if I can’t imagine myself marrying them? I just wouldn’t even put energy into it. But now I believe there are relationships that are meant to be in your life, even if it’s just for a few weeks,'” she said.

Carpenter also spoke about how her love life continues to make headlines, but she noted that she doesn’t pay attention to romance rumors, which she said can surface before she’s even defined her relationship with the person she’s romantically linked to.

“I don’t really realize it until someone randomly who I haven’t told, ‘Oh, I’m dating this person,’ says to me, ‘Oh, you’re dating this person,'” the former Disney Channel employee explained. “It’s a weird thing and so funny because I may have spoken to someone three times and not even decided if I like them. But it’s like, you’re dating when you’re two feet away from them.”

Although Carpenter has not publicly stated whether she is dating Keoghan, there have been several reports about the alleged couple. Earlier this month, fans spotted the Saltburn Star at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour concert in Singapore, where Carpenter opened the show. After her performance, Carpenter was photographed leaving the stage and gives Keoghan a sweet hug.

They visited the Vanity Fair 2024 Oscars Party on March 10, when they took their first public photo together. The alleged couple was pictured with hands in front of mouthwhile the singer had her arm around his shoulder. Fans also noticed that he with a friendship bracelet for the eventwith a heart-shaped pendant and letters that seemed to spell the singer’s name, “Sabrina.”

On the red carpet before the event in Beverly Hills, Keoghan posed just feet away from Carpenter. During the event, he was seen looking over at his rumored girlfriend instead of paying attention to the camera in front of him.

While Keoghan’s head was turned to the side, photographers continued to call his name, apparently in an effort to get him to look forward. He then admitted his lack of concentration to the paparazzi on the red carpet, saying, “Excuse me, I’m distracted.”
