Stevie Nicks postpones Glasgow gig due to injury

Stevie Nicks has postponed her performance in Glasgow at short notice after undergoing minor surgery for a leg injury.

The former Fleetwood Mac frontwoman was due to perform at the OVO Hydro on Saturday, but organisers said she needed “a few days’ rest” following a medical procedure.

It would have been the 76-year-old singer’s first solo appearance in Scotland, after she had already performed in the city with Fleetwood Mac in 2015.

Her performance in Manchester on Tuesday has also been postponed, but the singer will return to London’s Hyde Park for two nights next Friday and Saturday.

A post shared on OVO Hydro’s Facebook page just hours before the performance said the singer needed “a few days of recovery” after undergoing minor surgery on her leg.

The venue operator said new dates would be announced soon.

The American singer joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 and helped them become one of the most successful music acts of all time, with over 120 million records sold.

“Rumours,” the band’s second album with Nicks, became one of the best-selling albums worldwide.

As a solo artist, Nicks enjoyed success with albums such as Bella Donna, which reached number 11 in the UK album charts, and The Other Side of the Mirror, which reached number 3 in 1989.

US singer Megan thee Stallion also canceled her performance in Glasgow planned for Saturday last week.

She said this was due to construction work at the venue.

Susan Kerr from Edinburgh said she was very disappointed by the news.

“We were travelling, so they could have told us this morning. But we’re staying overnight, so we’ll make the best of it.”

She said her hotel cost £150 each for her and her daughter, and an additional £20 each for travel expenses.

Tickets for the concert cost £189 and Susan also took time off work.

Her daughter Ellena was also supposed to visit her in Manchester on Tuesday, but this appointment was also postponed.
