Bridgeport police officer charged with domestic violence

According to Captain Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police Department, Officer Dani Soto was arrested on Wednesday, July 3, following a criminal investigation that began in May into allegations of domestic violence.

Soto, 47, of Bridgeport, was on leave during the investigation.

Soto has been with the department since 2017 and has been charged with:

  • Five cases of stalking – fear for physical integrity
  • Four cases of deprivation of liberty
  • 22 cases of harassment

Bail was set at $75,000 by the court. He will be arraigned later Wednesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

“We encourage victims of domestic violence to seek help by contacting support organizations like the Center for Family Justice,” Gilleran said.

The nonprofit agency offers counseling, assistance and support to help victims of domestic violence become survivors. Victims of domestic violence can contact the Center for Family Justice hotline at 203 384-9559.

Another service is the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Coalition staff are available toll-free 24 hours a day and can be reached at 1-888-774-2900 (English) or 1-888-831-9200 (Spanish). Both services are free and confidential.

“The Bridgeport Police Department is committed to building trust and legitimacy in the communities it serves by making every effort to maintain an enduring culture of transparency and accountability,” Gilleran added.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Jack DeBarros at 203 581-5202 or the Bridgeport Police Tip Line at 203-576-TIPS.
