GI Joe announces new fan initiative

Skybound and Image Comics have announced that the new ongoing GI Joe – The Movie The series will feature a “Choose Your Side” initiative, where fans can declare their loyalty to the titular team of heroes or their villainous counterpart Cobra. A website has been set up where fans can pledge their allegiance and submit photos to be featured in the series.

Skybound Insiders can visit GIJoeChooseYourSide.com to submit a photo of themselves and choose GI Joe or Cobra. The publisher promises that each eligible entry will be featured in an issue of the upcoming series, launching this November. The fan photo ads will be included until “every eligible entry has been featured.” Photo submissions are being accepted now through September 8 from residents of the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada (excluding Quebec) who are over the age of 18 and have a verified Skybound Insiders account.

Skybound’s new, ongoing GI Joe – The Movie The series will hit comic book stores on November 13th and is written by superstar creative team Joshua Williamson (duke, Cobra Commander) and artist Tom Reilly. The series will be continued GI Joe – The Movies expansion in the Energon universe, with Skybound’s advertisement for the series reading: “Conrad Hauser, codename Duke, has assembled a special unit called GI Joe to combat the growing power of the mysterious Cobra following the arrival of the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth. But the enigmatic Cobra Commander has unleashed the power of Energon like never before!”

The GI Joe Fan Initiative focuses on the fans

In the press release for the new fan initiative, Arune Sigh from Skybound spoke about the unique opportunity that the “Choose Your Side” advertising offers fans. “Choose Your Side is a unique opportunity to be part of GI Joe – The Movie history and our way of thanking all the amazing fans who have made the Energon Universe the hottest comic book franchise in the industry. So many fans – including all of us at Skybound – have dreamed of seeing their names in their favorite comics, and it’s exciting to take it a step further by giving Skybound Insiders the chance to see their faces side by side with other members in the biggest new comic book release of the year!”
