Several former Florida Gators in action this summer

NBA teams started Announcement of the squads for the Summer League 2024 this week, with several former Florida Gators named on it.

The youngest former Gators in the Summer League squads are Zyon Pullin And Tyrese SamuelFor those who missed it, Pullin signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Heat will compete in both the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League events, so Pullin will see plenty of action this summer.

Samuel will be a part of the Phoenix Suns this summer after signing an Exhibit 10 contract, despite also not being selected in the 2024 draft.

Next, the Los Angeles Lakers released their Summer League squad with Collin Castleton Castleton is entering his second year with the Lakers after going undrafted in 2023. He is currently on a two-way contract and hopes to see more playing time in the NBA next season.

In his first season with the Lakers, he averaged 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game in 16 games. During his time with the South Bay Lakers (the Lakers’ affiliate in the G-League) averaged 14.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. So Castleton still has room for improvement.

Next, Ex-Gator Alex Fudge also made the Dallas Mavericks’ Summer League roster. Fudge spent just one year with the Gators before surprisingly signing up for the NBA after his sophomore year.

In his a year with FloridaIn 32 games, he averaged just 19.3 minutes per game. He also only scored 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Fudge went undrafted after underperforming in college and eventually signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers to play on the West Coast with former teammate Castleton.

However, this did not last the whole year, because he was released in January 2024This paved the way for him to sign another Two-way deal with the Mavericks.

The Summer League begins on Saturday, July 6th with the California Classic 2024.

The first game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ESPN.
