Chelsea have certainly been very busy in the first few weeks of the summer transfer window. As is now usual, the Blues have been linked with numerous arrivals and departures.
Five have already completed the transfer, but three of them are teenagers, continuing a trend of recent years, and one of them will not arrive until 2025. The two who have been on the market longer (Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall) are both good signings with good value for money, but are unlikely to improve the level dramatically.
This leaves Enzo Maresca with a lot of work to do, both in terms of departures and arrivals at Stamford Bridge. While Chelsea are looking to raise money and also improve their long-term sustainability plans, Football.London looked at the value of the players already in the group.
Robert Sanchez
Sanchez’s stock has only really fallen since he signed a long-term contract for £25m last summer, and that’s saying something. Maresca will be hoping to get more out of him than Mauricio Pochettino.
Value: £20 million
Djordje Petrovic
When Sanchez’s price dropped, Petrovic’s price definitely rose. His ability on the ball is still questionable, but he had a pretty solid first year.
Value: £20 million
Marcus Bettinelli
As far as a third goalkeeper goes, Bettinelli is a good character in the squad. If he ever has to play, Chelsea will regret their luck, but he is a popular member at Cobham, it is hard to go wrong.
Value: £1 million

Levi Colwill
Chelsea’s defensive gem. The Blues rejected offers of £30 million last summer and although he missed much of the 2024 season and was expected to play at left-back, Colwill is still a gem and one of the most talented young centre-backs around.
Value: £75 million
Axel Disasi
Disasi has lived up to expectations after signing for £45 million. He is extremely robust and versatile when it matters. The Frenchman brings many intangible qualities and is also dangerous in the air. He is a fun character but does not raise the level of the team that much.
Value: £30 million
Benoit Badiashile
If Disasi is the solid but unspectacular former Monaco defender, then Badiashile is the promising but inconsistent alternative. He seemed to be getting really good in his first six months at the club, but last season was more of a struggle.
Value: £35 million
Wesley Fofana
Fofana could be everything for Chelsea if he stays fit. The ‘if’ is getting bigger and bigger. It feels like a crucial period is coming up because he could and probably should be the first choice at right back if he is on form. He was signed for £70 million but is now worth a lot less, but his potential is still sky high.
Value: £50 million
Trevoh Chalobah
Cobham graduates tend to be valued lower than others, but Chalobah has now made almost 100 Premier League appearances as a 24-year-old defender who can play in the back line and midfield when required. If Max Kilman is worth £40m, then Chalobah is worth considerably more.
Chelsea may be willing to sell him for as little as £35 million, but that doesn’t reflect his quality. Chalobah outperformed all of Chelsea’s defenders last year despite missing more than half the season through injury.
Value: £60 million
Alfie Gilchrist
Gilchrist, who is likely to leave on loan this summer, does not have much evidence of first-team involvement, but he is a well-regarded young man and can play in a number of positions.
Value: £5 million
Ben Chilwell
Chelsea have gotten their money’s worth for Chilwell, who was signed for £50 million in 2021, but it is heavily skewed towards the back. He has been unfit for much of the last two years and has lacked form and/or consistency. Chelsea will reportedly consider offers for him, despite him recently being given a new contract.
Value: £30 million

Marc Cucurella
What a turnaround it has been for Cucurella in 2024. 12 months ago it looked like he was leaving the club, now he is standing out for Spain at the European Championships. He still has a long way to go to repay the £62m he cost, but there are promising signs.
Value: £35 million
Reece James
Much like Chilwell, James has spent too much time on the bench in recent seasons to show his actual quality. Real Madrid and £80 million used to be the headlines, but now James needs to go back to basics before he can show what he can really do.
Value: £50 million
Malo Gusto
One of the big winners of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital’s ownership to date. At just £20 million, Gusto was a bargain and is not currently considered for sale.
Value: £50 million
Moises Caicedo
It’s always difficult to justify £115 million as a transfer price and Caicedo certainly hasn’t done that yet. He’s had a much better year at Stamford Bridge than anyone gave him credit for but realistically Chelsea have paid far too much to get him in the first place.
Value: £60 million
Romeo Lavia
How do you judge a teenager who was signed for £58 million and played just 30 minutes last season? Lavia has a unique skill set that makes him valuable and promising, but Chelsea demanded more than the market price to get him last summer.
Value: £45 million
Lesley Ugochukwu
The French midfielder played a bigger role than many expected last season, but for £22 million it was no small investment. He has hinted that he could be worth a lot more in the future, but it is unlikely that he will achieve that without a loan move.
Value: £15 million
Enzo Fernandez
It’s a common problem in midfield that Chelsea spend more on their players than they’re really worth. Fernandez is no exception, but he offers qualities that not every midfielder has and Chelsea are rewarded with a great player who will offer them a lot in the years to come.
Value: £70 million
Conor Gallagher
Copy and paste the Chalobah segment. Gallagher is one of the most important players for Chelsea but public valuation has rarely reflected that. The club now expect to sell him for around £50m in the final 12 months of his contract, which is already more likely, but if Mount was sold for £60m then Gallagher is just as valuable given his form and place in the England squad.
Value: £60 million
Carney Chukwuemeka
Possibly the attacking midfielder with the most potential in the Chelsea squad, not much has come back from the £20 million spent on him so far and Chelsea reportedly have a £40 million release clause in his contract.
Value: £40 million
Cole Palmer
Few predicted Palmer and he has ridiculed those who laughed at the £45m Chelsea paid Manchester City last season. Now he is worth at least double that and is one of the Premier League’s best players.
Value: £95 million
Christopher Nkunku
Chelsea signed Nkunku for a seemingly cheap fee of just £52 million. At the time, he was one of the most in-form attackers in Europe. Since then, he hasn’t done much to improve his form, but that’s mainly due to injuries. The few appearances he’s made in the team have shown that he’s a player with a lot to offer.
Value: £60 million
Raheem Sterling
Sterling, Chelsea’s highest earner and now the oldest player in the first team, has had a frustrating time at Stamford Bridge. His salary is an outlier in the squad and his performances do not bear that out. Sterling is happy at Chelsea, Football.London understands, but they might not be on his side if results improve.
Value: £30 million
Mykhailo Mudryk
If you could sum up Chelsea’s new owners in a single deal, it would be this: £62 million, possibly even £80 million, for a 22-year-old with no significant track record at the senior level. The money was spent on promise and potential rather than immediate quality, and Mudryk is worth closer to the £30 million Brentford were willing to pay in the summer of 2022 than the price Chelsea ultimately paid.
Value: £35 million
Noni Madueke
Madueke costs almost half as much as Mudryk and has been just as mixed at times. His form towards the end of last season is promising but the England winger still has a long way to go before another club offers more than what Chelsea paid for him.
Value: £25 million
Nicholas Jackson
If Gusto and Palmer are success stories for the Chelsea model, then Jackson is not far behind. A relatively unknown £30m signing, he outperformed many of Chelsea’s expensive strikers and still has plenty of room to develop.
Value: £60 million
Armando Broja
Jacskon’s promise is matched by Broja’s frustration. Chelsea rejected £30m for the Albanian two summers ago, but now he is a shadow of that player. A sale for a somewhat substantial amount is being explored, but the club will do well to get close to the £35m figure come January.
Value: £20 million
Notable others
Here are some of the players in or returning to Chelsea this summer who either haven’t played much football or are uncertain about their participation. Sarr and Fofana both seem to be candidates for a departure.
Malang Sarr (£2m), Cesare Casadei (£10m), David Datro Fofana (£15m), Andrey Santos (£30m). Dewsbury-Hall, the latest signing, is probably worth more than £30m, but Chelsea only just signed him and Adarabioyo is at least a £30m man despite being a free transfer.
It’s impossible to really estimate how much Estevao Willian is worth, while Omari Kellyman is certainly worth less than the £19 million paid for him. Other players like Deivid Washington, Angelo Gabriel and Diego Moreira simply haven’t gained enough first-team experience to be able to evaluate them.
