Results from last Friday at the Nashville SuperSpeedway in Tennessee: Stewart Friesen secured the pole position to start the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series-Rackley Roofing 200. Unfortunately, this was the highlight of the day, as Friesen only finished 11th in the main race.

Utica-Rome Speedway hosted the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast 360 wingless sprint car series for the first time. Chase Moran of Fultonville and Danny Varin of Fonda were two locals who participated. Moran went on a wild ride in the first heat, going up on the backstretch approaching turn three and sailing into the trees. Fortunately, he was uninjured and was able to get the necessary repairs done to his car before the main race. The redraw for the 25-lap main race put New York drivers Billy Vaninwegen and Varin on the front row. Varin dominated the main race, finishing ahead of VanInwegen and Matt Tanner for an all-New York podium. For Varin, it was the sixth race car division in which he has won a main race at the “Home of Heroes.” Varin has won at UR in the following divisions: Sportsman, Modified, 305 Winged Sprint, 360 Winged Sprint, 410 Winged Sprint and now 360 Wingless Sprint.

In the 30-lap 3 Bastards Brewing Modified Division, Matt Sheppard won over Rocky Warner and Mike Maresca. In the 25-lap Taylors Trailers Crate 602 Sportsman Division, Payton Talbot won ahead of Ed Lukas and Allan Hodge. The 12-lap Fonda Fair 4 Cylinder Division race went to Kyle Simmons in the Dual Cam Division and Damien Beckler in the Single Cam Division.

As on Friday at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, Marc Johnson took his second win of the season in the 35-lap race of the NAPA DIRTcar Modified Division ahead of Peter Britten and Matt DeLorenzo. In the 25-lap race of the Doug Wholey’s Ideal Excavating DIRTcar Crate 602 Sportsman Division, Jon Miller won ahead of Taylor LaPlante and Brendon Gibbons.

Fonda Speedway canceled its program last Saturday due to rain throughout the Northeast, and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park held out as long as it could on Sunday before canceling its program.

Due to weather, Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vermont, postponed its Saturday program until Sunday night, where Chase Moran of Fultonville won the 25-lap race with Sprint Cars of New England, a career first for Moran.

On Wednesday, Fonda watched Rocky Warner compete only on the final lap to win the prestigious Bill Ag Memorial Modified Elimination Race. For Warner, it was his first win at Bill Ag. The big money winner was Jack Lehner, who was victorious in the first three rounds of 1-on-1 match races. Between the elimination race and the main race, over $10,000 was raised in bonuses for the drivers thanks to the efforts of Shelly Shaffer, the Anagnostopulos family and many supporters.

In the Short Track Super Series main race, Sheppard took his second consecutive Firecracker 50 for the sail-paneled modified division while Mat Williamson and Anthony Perrego filled the podium. Friesen led early in the main race but suffered a flat tire just past the halfway point and never seemed to fully recover from that incident. Talbot took the win in the 25-lap STSS Crate 602 Sportsman main race while Brian Calabrese and Chad Edwards filled the top three spots. In the 20-lap Online Performance/Stone Motorsports Street Stock main race, Chris Stalker won ahead of Jason Samrov and Andrew Fitzgerald.

Thursday night saw the second annual Bill Shea Memorial at Utica-Rome Speedway. Thirty-seven sprint cars entered for the Empire Super Sprint 360 sprint car show with wings. A redraw gave Friesen the pole position for the 25-lap feature race. It was a good, competitive feature race between Friesen, Jordan Poirier and Danny Varin, and that’s how they ended up. In the 30-lap feature race for the 3 Bastards Brewing Modifieds, Friesen won ahead of Tim Fuller and Marc Johnson. In the 25-lap feature race for Taylor’s Trailers Crate 602 Sportsman, Talbot finished ahead of Calabrese and Matt Janczuk. The 20-lap feature race for Next Generation GraphiX Pro Stock was won by “Cousin” Luke Horning ahead of AJ Walters and Bret Belden.
