Taylor Swift is overjoyed that her fans broke the “all-time attendance record” at Anfield Stadium.
The 34-year-old “Bad Blood” singer played a marathon show at the arena on Thursday night (13.06.24), beating the previous record for the largest fan base to gather there – set by Liverpool Football Club 72 years ago.
Taylor told the 62,000-plus Swifties that the record had been broken. Although no exact number was given, it must have been higher than the previous record of 61,905 football fans who filled the stadium on February 2, 1952.
She said: “I just want to say that it means the world to us to be able to play this show in front of people who do so much for us and to welcome us to Liverpool in this way.
“We love you so much and you know, as I walked up to the stage, they took me aside and told me what else you did for us tonight.
“And the thing is, you – you broke the all-time attendance record at this stadium tonight.
“Isn’t it great to know that there have never been as many people in this room as there are now? I personally love that feeling.”
Taylor’s ongoing ‘Eras Tour’ – which returns to Anfield on Friday (14.06.24) and Saturday – has broken a number of other live records.
With over 4.3 million tickets sold and gross revenue of over one billion dollars, it is the highest-grossing tour of all time.
Taylor broke ticket sales records set at Lumen Field in Seattle, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, AT and T Stadium in Arlington, Allianz Parque in Sao Paolo, Nissan Stadium in Nashville and the Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
On Thursday, the 100th show of her “Eras Tour” took place and during the three-hour performance she told her fans about this milestone: “It blows me away – it doesn’t feel like a statistic to me … because this tour was truly the most exhausting, most comprehensive, but also the most enjoyable, rewarding and wonderful thing that has ever happened to me in my life.”
