When can you set off fireworks in Michigan?

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – The glorious explosions of the Fourth of July are mostly over … the reds, whites and blues caress the sky … and then comes the morning after.

Andre Brown, a local resident, was up early cleaning up the mess left behind in his neighborhood.

“We set off fireworks here last night. We did our thing,” he said, looking out at the trash-strewn parking lot on Kalamazoo Avenue.

Together with his friend “Woody” he collected the exploded containers and firework packaging into a huge pile at the edge of the property.

Not everyone was so responsible. All over the city, empty parking lots were littered with discarded fireworks and garbage.

The 4th of July in West Michigan, seemingly a chaotic success.

Fireworks are legal in Michigan from June 29 to July 4 until 11:45 p.m. daily.

The law provides for regulations regarding the setting off of fireworks on July 5th.

Fireworks are allowed on July 5th as long as the day falls on a Friday or Saturday.

TGIF, what?

The City of Grand Rapids’ annual fireworks display will light up the skies over the Grand River on Saturday, July 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
