Echoes of Wisdoms Tri is reminiscent of another series companion

Nintendo loves to throw villains with secret twists at its players, and in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, one of them could be hiding quite obviously.

“Fairy Tri” by Echoes of Wisdom exudes a touch of nostalgia

After a prologue depicting Link’s disastrous final confrontation with Ganon, Princess Zelda is seemingly captured by Hylian guards and thrown into prison as if she were in A connection to the past. Since Link is unwell, it falls to the fairy Tri to provide Zelda with the Tri-Staff and Echoes of WisdomMain game. Not much is known about this fairy companion, but it is nice to have a traveling companion after being in Breath of the Wild And Tears of the Kingdom. Legacy Zelda Fairies like Navi and Tatl come to mind first, but another companion might be a better comparison.

Tri most resembles Twilight Princess’ companion Midna

The last Legend of Zelda Navigator-like character who met her hero in a cell was Midna, the first-class Twili companion of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The circumstances there were a little different, as Midna is initially a rather selfish and manipulative character, but she becomes just as important in Twilight Princess‘s Quest than Link himself. Tri probably gets along much faster with Princess Zelda, but in a game that is otherwise dominated by ALttP And Left Awakening References, it is interesting that Echoes of Wisdom has such a direct parallel to Twilight Princess.

What Midna reveals about Echoes of Wisdoms Tri

It might mean nothing, but there is a chance that there is more to learn about the parallels between Tri and Midna. Tri’s design can essentially be described as a combination of a shattered Triforce, the mystical artifact that appears in many Zelda Title and an abstract fairy. Except, Tris’ only resemblance to abstract balls of light Zelda Fairies are their size and general shape, having otherwise traded wings for a visible face. Said face is also unusually asymmetrical and may be a very simplified counterpart to the markings Midna’s Twili tribe bears on their bodies.

An equivalent of the Twilight Realm could hold Tris’ deepest secrets

The chances of a direct connection are quite slim here, as Nintendo is obviously hesitant to bring the Twili and their Interloper ancestors back into the Zelda franchise. However, Tri’s strange design elements suggest there could be more to it, and the Twili theme suggests some sort of dark world, like the Shadow Realm, could be involved. Ganon, Link, and parts of Hyrule that have been swallowed up by a strange purple void all likely still exist somewhere, and Zelda will likely fulfill another series tradition by traveling there later in her adventure. This visit could shed more light on who and what Tri is, so fans should prepare to unravel The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of WisdomOnce they get their hands on the game, they will discover the game’s secrets.
