Which TV show do you constantly quote?

When I sit back and think about it, I’m surprised at how often I find myself repeating phrases like “There’s always money at the banana stand” or “…you?” or even “I’m afraid I’m making a bad accusation right now.” Suffice it to say, Arrested Development is a show that has crept into the deepest recesses of my consciousness. Of course, there are other shows full of iconic sayings that I use every day in surprising scenarios. If the words “bears, beats, Battlestar Galactica” or “Identity theft is no joke, Jim” mean anything to you, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Which show do you often quote in your everyday life?

Are you in favor of a romance between Syd and Carmy in The Bear?

Since the early days of The Bear, fans have stated that there is romantic tension between Syd and Carmy (played by Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White respectively). Although the idea has been repeatedly dismissed by the cast and crew, fans can’t let it go. In fairness, the characters have great chemistry, with fans pointing to the scene where Carmy has a panic attack being calmed by the thought of Syd as a prime example of their connection. On the other hand, others argue that it’s great to see a platonic relationship between a man and a woman on TV, something they say is hard to find. What do you think, is a relationship in their future or are people just looking for romance where there is none?

What is your favorite episode of Lost?

Lost is currently enjoying a mini-revival after all six seasons were added to Netflix. The finale and final season overall are still pretty controversial, but I think the show is great. What is your favorite episode of the show? The pilot is arguably the best of all the series and is pretty up there with the rest of the series. Another fan favorite is The Constant, an episode that focuses on Desmond. While I think it’s excellent, it might not be in my top five favorites. Through the Looking Glass, The Man Behind the Curtain, Live Together, Die Alone, Walkabout, Exodus, and even The End are all fantastic and I could choose any of these episodes as my favorite episode of the show. What do you think of Lost and what is your favorite episode of the show?

Why wasn’t “Dexter vs. Deb” the end of the series?

I know how long it’s been since Dexter went underground in Hurricane Lumberjack, but every time they announce a new piece of Dexter content, the old wounds are reopened. It seemed like all the pieces were in place for a final showdown between Dexter and Deb well into the final season. She was on a downward spiral during those first few episodes after killing LaGuerta, and Dexter was desperately trying to get her back on his side. What an incredibly poignant final showdown that would have been – Deb finally coming to terms with what her brother is and working to put an end to his reign of terror while still trying to find a way to love him, and Dexter working against all odds to avoid having to kill his sister while doing everything he can to maintain the life he’s grown so fond of. It has to have been better than the mess we got, right?

Should star actors have creative control over the production?

There has been a huge boom in actors starting their own production companies in recent years. From industry greats like Reese Witherspoon and Emma Stone to a young Mckenna Grace, it’s great to see women in particular taking on these positions behind the camera. And following the success of Barbie, Margot Robbie is developing a Sims movie as a producer. When these celebrities work as producers, they obviously deserve a certain amount of creative control over the end result. But should an actor be given the same privilege just because they’re famous? Of course not. What do you think?

What is the best Pixar movie?

Pixar recently hit the jackpot with Inside Out 2. The film earned a 90% critics’ score and a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and has dominated the box office since its release. While I didn’t like it as much as the first film, I thought it was a great entry into the legendary Pixar filmography. But which is the best film the company has ever released? Personally, I lean towards the Toy Story trilogy, and this may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually like the third film the best. I think because of my age at the time and the new characters that were introduced, it all fit together perfectly and was one of the best trilogy-ending films of all time. Are you leaning towards one of the first two films in the Toy Story series? How about Monsters, Inc.? Ratatouille? Wall-E or The Incredibles? Finding Nemo and Up are also two of the best, although they don’t rank first for me. I think one of the most underrated songs is Soul, which was released at the height of the pandemic in 2020.
