DENVER (KDVR) — Dating in Colorado, especially Denver, is not for the faint of heart. From hopeless bars to dry dating apps, many have complained about the dating scene in “Menver.” However, a lucky few have been able to find their life partner in the Centennial State.

To find out what the chances are of finding a partner in Colorado, FOX31 took to social media and asked, “Did you meet your significant other in Colorado? Tell us more.”

Viewers flooded in with comments, some reporting their happiness, others their frustration with finding a partner in the state.

Viewers met their partners at these locations in Colorado

Some viewers said they met their partners at work, such as on the Ultimate Electronic Soundtrack in 1997. Others were high school sweethearts, such as a couple who met at Abraham Lincoln High School in 1997.

Not all love stories in Colorado were so ordinary. Some couples met through dating apps, on the road, or even after a call to a radio station.

Here are some stories worthy of Nicholas Sparks’ novel that FOX31 viewers shared:

“I-25 Speedway, on the north side of Pueblo. I was the official turn 2 driver and a couple of guys noticed the pink hair. They kept announcing Toby McKeever, single and looking. I stalked him on Facebook and sent him messages. Our first date was 7/13/17 driving down Gold Camp Road. We got married 12/31/22 in Helen Hunt Falls!” a FOX31 viewer commented on Facebook.

“Five years ago I was visiting Denver from Germany. I was in the right place at the right time when I met a beautiful girl from Florida at Voodoo Doughnut. The bacon maple bars we got were great and the Voodoo doll was amazing. We walked downtown together, ate our donuts and talked until 2am (we met around 1pm). We are now married with three kids and it’s all because the universe wanted it that way and Voodoo had delicious donuts,” commented another viewer.

“Seventh caller to the radio station. I won tickets and a husband!” commented another.

“New Year’s Eve party 2009. Went with a friend, met him, 10 days later we had our first date at the Thirsty Bear in Lakewood. The rest is history, including an amazing trip to Paris and Key West. He died of cancer in 2017. We had an amazing trip together!” commented another viewer on FOX31’s Facebook page.

“2017, phlebotomy class at Front Range Community College. I was helping a friend and he was helping the same friend. I realized we had known each other since 2009 when he lived in Ohio. We will have been married for seven years in December,” one person commented.

“I met him on the radio. He worked at the fire dispatch center in Pueblo and I was a firefighter in the Rio Grande NF. We first met on June 11, 2006 and are still together,” another viewer said on Facebook.

“We met here in Colorado when we were both working in the police force in the late 90’s at 16 and started dating in 2000 at 18. Now, almost 24 years later (married for 22), we have two kids, gone through school, done deployments, changed careers, our kids are graduating and starting their own lives, and we have never been happier or more in love. I fall more in love with him every day,” said another viewer.

“We worked together at Target in Southeast Aurora for five years starting in 2009. After we both left the company, we remained friends until our first date at John Holly’s in Lone Tree on New Year’s Eve 2015. We’ll have been married five years in August!” one person commented.

“My husband moved to Denver from Illinois in 1987 and I moved here from Nebraska in 1987. We met at Bangles nightclub in Glendale at the bottom of the spiral staircase in September 1988. We got engaged on Valentine’s Day 1989 and were married in April 1989 at the wedding chapel at Heritage Square during a major spring snowstorm,” another person wrote on FOX31’s Facebook page.

While there are many Centennial State success stories, others are difficult to date.

If you are single in Colorado, you are not alone. Here are some of the comments:

“It was impossible for me to have a date. Congratulations to everyone who found someone,” said one viewer.

“Colorado is a bring-your-own-man state,” commented another.

While some seem to have found “the one,” others are still searching. The dating scene is not hopeless, as many are still with their significant other more than 20 years after they met here in Colorado.
