Boston sports legend visits popular Tiverton restaurant featured by famous foodie – Fall River Reporter

A famous Boston sports star visited a popular restaurant in Tiverton this week.

Evelyn’s Drive In at 2335 Main Road announced on social media that Bruins captain Brad Marchand had paid a visit.

“We were THRILLED to have absolute legend @bmarch63 Brad Marchand, captain of the @nhlbruins, crash on our patio enjoying his afternoon with family!”

Marchand, who was apparently recovering from an injury as his arm was in a sling, is not the only celebrity to visit Evelyn recently.

Guy Fieri featured the restaurant for the second time in an episode of Triple D Nation, a spin-off of Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, that aired earlier this year.

In the episode “From Steak to Seafood,” it says, “Fieri hosts a surf and turf soiree! First, a Brazilian-American fusion restaurant in Orlando, Florida, serves up traditional shrimp stew and hearty steak. Then, a soul food joint in Memphis, Tennessee, serves up a fantastic fried sandwich, and a waterfront eatery in Tiverton, Rhode Island (Evelyn’s) adds stunning flavor to seafood platters and high-end chowders.”

The Food Network noted that “You’ll find great local specialties and scenic views of Nanaquaket Pond at Evelyn’s Drive In. The eatery is famous for fried clams and the traditional Rhode Island Clam Chowder, which is served with cream at the end. Guy couldn’t believe the Lobster Chow Mein and joked, ‘As wrong as it is, it’s right.'”

An October 15, 2007 episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives titled “Seaside Eats” featured Evelyn’s Drive In with Fieri and Jane and Domenic Bitto, who have owned the eatery since 1987 after Evelyn DuPont founded it in 1969.
