Summer is officially here, which probably means your family vacations and road trips are starting too. With so many prices at all-time highs, it shouldn’t feel like you’re breaking your bank just to get a quick meal on the road or at the airport.

After an $18 Big Mac meal caused outrage among customers, McDonald’s is responding with a summer full of offers. Exactly: the cheap menu that we were promised, which caused so many competitors to own Cheap meals on menus are finally available.

McDonald’s introduces $5 menu offer

McDonald’s will add its $5 meal deal to menus nationwide on June 25. This long-awaited offer lets you choose between a McDouble or McChicken, small portions of French fries, four chicken nuggets and a small soft drink – for just $5.

This is cheaper than combining practically everything on the “$1, $2, $3 menu” where there is hardly anything on it for $1.

With customers complaining about fast food price hikes, McDonald’s is obviously hoping the new deal will draw people to the Golden Arches in droves. And while the deal is great – and you don’t have to order online or download the restaurant’s app to get it – there’s still a catch. The $5 meal deal is only available for a limited time.

We were hoping Mickey D’s would take a cue from Wendy’s, which constantly offers Biggie Bags for $5 and “444” meals for $4. For now, it seems to be a limited-time promotion, but if the offer is successful, perhaps McDonald’s will consider adding it to the menu permanently.

McDonald’s offer for free fries on Friday

But that’s not all. We’re looking forward to a summer full of deals. McDonald’s is also bringing back its Free Fries Friday offer. Every Friday through the end of 2024, customers can get a free medium portion of fries with any purchase of $1 or more. However, you must order through the McDonald’s app to qualify for this offer.

And it’s also sweetening National French Fry Day by handing out free French fries of any size on July 13, with no additional purchase necessary.

Local McDonald’s offers

After the franchise drama that saw customers find huge price differences between McDonald’s stores just a few miles apart, the brand finally has a solution. This summer, your local franchisee will be offering special, location-specific deals.

You’ll have to go to your local branch or check the Mickey D’s app to see what deals your restaurant has. But you can look for things like Buy One Get One for $1 breakfast sandwiches in Memphis, Tennessee, a Double Cheeseburger and small fries for $3.50 in Columbus, Ohio, and a McChicken and McDouble deal for $3.99 in Western New York, according to the McDonald’s press release.
