Michigan State Football in top 4 for 4-star LB

Michigan State Football in top 4 for 4-star LB

There could be good news again for the Michigan State football club.

In just a few days, one of Jonathan Smith’s top recruiting targets will announce his commitment and MSU just learned he was added to its top-four list.

Grant Beerman, a linebacker from West Chester, Ohio, has announced his top four, consisting of Michigan State, Cincinnati, Purdue and West Virginia.

Beerman is a four-star linebacker and the No. 30 linebacker in the country according to Rivals. He’s also the No. 18 player out of Ohio, which is solid considering how much talent the Buckeye State always has.

Last year, Beerman was named a first-team all-conference selection after a stellar junior season, recording an impressive 79 tackles, 12 of which resulted in a loss, along with four sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups.

Beerman visited East Lansing on June 14 for an official visit, but that’s not a real indication of whether or not Michigan State is trending in its recruitment. All four teams in Beerman’s top-four list received an official visit, and no official predictions have been made on that recruitment yet, either.

On3 gives Purdue the highest chance of winning this recruiting at 67.2%, with Michigan State coming in last at 3.9%. To be fair, these percentages change frequently and I’ve found them to be pretty inaccurate from time to time, so take that as you will — however, it feels like Purdue has all the momentum here.

Beerman will announce his commitment in the next few days, on July 6. As I mentioned, it’s hard to get a feel for where Michigan State stands right now, but the three schools they’re up against are beatable, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Spartans win this battle.
