Customers who purchased Costco’s Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes between 2011 and 2017 may be eligible for compensation in a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that Costco falsely advertised its wipes as flushable, causing customers to experience damaged pipes, sewer systems and other plumbing problems.

According to Top Class Actions, a legal news website, Costco has admitted no wrongdoing. The company will pay $2 million to settle the misleading advertising. The website states: “Consumers argue they would not have purchased the wipes if they had known they were not flushable as advertised.”

Those who purchased the wipes in New York between July 1, 2011, and May 31, 2017 are eligible to join the class action lawsuit and have until August 9 to file their claim. Class members are entitled to $1.30 per product purchased, with a maximum payout of $55.90 per household – that’s 43 products.

Am I eligible to file a claim in the Costco class action lawsuit?

According to the plaintiff, the wipes caused clogged water pipes and damaged sewer lines, pumps and septic tanks after flushing. Although Costco says the wipes work as advertised, you may be entitled to cash as part of the settlement.

Customers are only eligible for the class action lawsuit if they purchased the wipes in New York between 2011 and 2017. For customers who purchased the wipes in any other state, the claim is invalid.

Consumers must visit this website to make a valid claim. According to Top Class Actions, you do not need a proof of purchase to receive payment.

The minimum entitlement awarded to customers is $7.50 per household and the maximum entitlement is $55.90.

Costco faces another class action lawsuit

Top Class Actions reported that Costco is facing another lawsuit related to baby wipes that has not yet been settled.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit claim that Costco’s Kirkland Signature fragrance-free baby wipes contain dangerous levels of PFAS, despite being advertised as safe for children. The product is marketed as being made with natural ingredients, despite allegedly containing PFAS,” the legal news website said.
