Texas star Quinn Ewers on his career as a college football star

Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers was once known for having the most famous mullet in college football, but he has since made a big decision about his hair.

This move came when he left Ohio State University and returned to Texas, where he was about to take on the role of starting quarterback.

“I knew something had to change,” he said on the RG3 and The Ones podcast.

“So I started with the hair and decided to cut it off. And then lose weight and kind of get in shape. Build up more so I can take hits better and stuff, just feel more comfortable.”

Then-Texas Rangers wide receiver Xavier Worthy captured the moment Ewers debuted his new hairstyle last season in an Instagram post.

Ewers began his college football career as a top recruit and was known, among other things, for the mullet hairstyle he wore with the Buckeyes.

But since taking over the starting position for the Longhorns, he has decided to take things more seriously.

“I think I kind of brought the mentality from when I was in high school. I could go out there, follow my instincts and just do what I wanted,” he said.

“But it’s a completely different game. And it took me a little too long to realize that. But I think I learned it quickly and took it in my stride.”

Ewers threw 22 touchdowns and six interceptions last year to help Texas win at Alabama, win the Big 12 title and win the school’s first College Football Playoff appearance.

Now he returns to the Longhorns, who are making their SEC debut this season and bookmakers predict they can compete for the conference title and possibly more.

Could we see a return of the mullet hairstyle in the future?

“I don’t know, I don’t think so,” Ewers said. “You just have to take 30 minutes to clean it and wash it. That’s too much. That’s too much.”
