Chris Bosh almost appeared in Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers 3

Chris Bosh is a two-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer, but did you know he’s also a rap producer—one who helped create one of the biggest hip-hop moments of the last decade?

July 5th is the fifth anniversary of J. Cole and Dreamvilles Revenge of the Dreamers 3 Album. That was the time when Cole hosted a famous rap camp in Atlanta and invited over 300 artists and producers to collaborate on the album. Chris Bosh was one of the distinguished guests. After his NBA career ended in 2016 due to health reasons, Bosh plunged into music and discovered his passion for making beats.

He landed a spot on Gucci Mane’s “Miss my pain” with Rico Love in 2017. The track has a smooth snare arrangement that complements Gucci’s melodic rapping. In an interview in 2020 Bosh spoke to Shannon Sharpe about how the song came about. “Rico (Love) is a good friend of mine.” We were just hanging out and I played him some music. He wrote it and it ended up on Gucci’s album. Mr Davis …That was the turning point for me.”

Bosh was a fan of Cole’s music and had developed a relationship with the rapper. A year after he got his Gucci job, Dreamville launched their Revenge Rolling out with Instagram invites sent to various artists and producers, Bosh tells Complex that his wife, Adrienne Williams-Bosh, encouraged him to reach out to Cole to be part of the experience.

Cole said yes.

“When I got there (to rap camp), (Cole) was one of the first people I saw, but there were hundreds of people there,” Bosh tells Complex. “Cole said, ‘Good to see you, good to have you here. Keep up the good work.’ And then he walked away. I never thought I’d be bumped into 100 producers, 200 rappers and 50 singers. I had to fit in where I fit in. I was a little nervous because I wasn’t really expecting it.”
