Have Hamas and Hezbollah agreed to the Israeli ceasefire proposal? – Israel News

The Palestinian terror group Hamas has informed its ally Hezbollah that it has agreed to a proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and that its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah welcomes the move, two sources familiar with the matter said on Saturday.

A Hamas delegation led by the group’s deputy chairman, Khalil Al-Hayya, informed Nasrallah of the latest developments at a meeting in Beirut, the sources said.

One of the sources, a Hezbollah official, told Reuters the group would cease fire once a ceasefire agreement in Gaza takes effect, echoing previous statements by the group. “If there is a Gaza agreement, there will be a ceasefire in Lebanon from zero hour,” the official said.

This announcement follows renewed negotiations on hostage talks following talks between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joe Biden, as well as the dispatch of an Israeli delegation to Qatar to resume talks that JerusalemPost learned on Friday.

On Friday, Hamas withdrew its demand for an immediate commitment that Israel would end the war. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then dispatched a team led by Mossad director David Barnea to Doha for further negotiations.

Netanyahu and Biden discuss

Netanyahu spoke with US President Joe Biden and told him that Israel would participate in talks based on the latest draft of the three-phase agreement that Israel received on Wednesday. This concrete proposal addresses the release of the remaining 120 hostages and the issue of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
