The Go! Team announce 20th anniversary tour “Thunder, Lightning, Strike” and reissue

The Go! Team has announced a 20th anniversary tour for their debut album, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, as well as details on a reissue. .

The Brighton-based indie group, who released their seventh studio album, Get Up Sequences Part Two, in February 2023, confirmed online that the reissue of their debut album will be released on September 13 via Memphis Industries.

The Go! team has released the CDR version of “The Power is On” as well as a Cornershop remix of the album “Everyone’s a VIP to Someone”. A new remix will be released every month in 2024, with numerous artists contributing new versions.

There will also be a limited, exclusive Rough Trade edition of 500 red and yellow splatter vinyls, plus a bonus CD with the original CD-R versions of the songs recorded by band member Ian Parton in 2004.

The acclaimed 2004 album was praised for its sonic experimentation and raw production style, with tracks like “Ladyflash” adding a DIY twist to genres like Motown and ’80s hip-hop.

In 2005, Thunder, Lightning, Strike was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and a “legal” version of the album was released, removing samples that were not clearly recognizable in the original.

The tracks from the DIY album were commercially successful; “Bottle Rocket” and “Huddle Formation” were used in television commercials.

In addition to the reissue, they have announced a series of concerts to commemorate their 2004 debut album. The band will kick off their 20th anniversary tour, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, in Edinburgh on September 26, before playing Manchester on September 27, Bristol on September 28 and Dublin on September 29.

The Go! team – currently consisting of Ian Parton, Sam Dook, Ninja, Adam Znaidi, Niadzi Muzira, Jaleesa Gemerts and Deanna Wilhelm – will also travel to the US, performing shows in Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
