A legendary singer of the 90s seemed like an unknown at the Nordoff and Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards on Friday at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The 58-year-old Manchester native was catapulted to superstardom with his 1989 hit “All Around the World,” before going on to sell a whopping £20 million worth of records worldwide.

She has released eight albums, sung duets with artists such as Queen and George Michael and was involved in the soundtrack of the cult films “The Bodyguard” and “Indecent Proposal”.

She has won numerous Brit Awards and Ivor Novello Awards and has been nominated for a Grammy twice. She has also pursued acting, starring alongside Keira Knightley in 2008’s The Edge of Love and in the 2014 drama Northern Soul.

But can you guess who she is?

But can you guess who she is?

It is none other than Lisa Stansfield, who herself won the Nordoff and Robbins Silver Clef Award for Best Newcomer in 1990.

She cut a chic figure as she walked the red carpet in a grey suit with a plunging neckline and 7/8 trousers.

Lisa also wore a black bucket hat, a pair of £790 Gucci slippers and glittery gold socks.

Lisa was all smiles as she posed with her hands in her pockets and made her way to the fancy event, oozing with confidence.

The singer received two Grammy nominations for “All Around The World” and her first solo album “Affection” is her best-selling album to date.

However, she doesn’t have good memories of the song.

Lisa revealed back in 2018 that her appearance in the 1989 music video “haunts” her.

In an episode of “Lorraine,” the singer confessed that she doesn’t like watching the video again, even though the song is her most successful single to date.

The Search For A Star winner admitted: “I had this weird, strange fat face. It was done in a hurry. And 30 years later, it still haunts me.”

She revealed that she is still grateful for the opportunities she has had, adding: “People say to me about my music, ‘It got me through college, it saved my marriage, it helped me come out.’ It’s wonderful to be a part of someone’s life in a big way.”

However, the industry also has its downsides: Lisa admitted that she had a hard time coping with fame.

“It got to the point where I couldn’t leave the house or go shopping, I was so nervous,” she explained. “To escape that, we (Lisa and her husband Ian Devaney) lived in Ireland for 14 years.”

Lisa married 58-year-old music producer Ian Devaney in New York in 1998 after working together since the mid-1980s.

The two met for the first time when they were still at school and both acted in a school play.

A few years later they met and formed the band Blue Zone together with Andy Morris.

When Lisa started her solo career, the band broke up, but they all continued working together: Lisa provided the vocals and Ian and Andy were in charge of production.
