Mercedes-Maybach launches an exclusive S-Class edition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the famous cruise ship company

JAKARTA – Mercedes-Maybach has officially presented a special edition of the S-Class together with the shipping company Robbe & Berking. The model also commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Flensburg-based cruise company.

Unlike the models that Maybach usually presents, the design of the sedan is exclusively inspired by the legendary cruise ship Sphinx 12mR from 1939, which features the most luxurious design of its time.

“Like the cruise ship Sphinx, our exclusive birthday vehicle Mercedes-Maybach S-Class symbolizes competence, craftsmanship and attention to detail,” said Mercedes-Maybach boss Daniel Lescow on Friday, July 5, on the manufacturer’s official website.

Based on the S680 model, the German ultra-premium car brand presents it in two different colors, starting from Nautical Blue Metallic and Patagonia Red. Both will be decorated with fine lines in White Metallic.

As with every other model, Maybach has given the interior an exclusive touch with a crystal white nappa leather cover decorated with diamonds. The seat, the roof liner, the door center panel and the storage compartment under the windshield are covered with this noble material.

The luxurious feel is further enhanced by exclusive walnut wood paneling with bright aluminum trim strips. Behind this are adjustable nappa leather upholstery.

In addition, the manufacturer pampers its users with maximum comfort, equipped with an electric tailgate lock, a high-quality 4D Burmester surround system and a door panel with the “MAYBACH” lettering.

There is also an MBUX infotainment system in the premium rear seat and a cooling compartment with two silver-plated champagne glasses from Robbe & Berking.

This special edition still uses the same engine as the standard version of the S680, a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 with 603 hp and 900 Nm of torque.

Unfortunately, the brand did not disclose the price of this special edition of the S-Class and did not mention the name of the owner of this model. Maybach confirmed that the sedan is not intended for mass sale.
