Fans criticize the casting of the Zelda live-action film

Remember when there was news about a live-action version of Legend of Zelda? That announcement seems like such a long time ago.

Well, it’s still in the works and although there is no official casting news yet, that hasn’t stopped fans from getting in on the action and choosing their dream cast for their favorites.

In the next part of The Legend of Zelda we can actually play as Zelda herself.

But a few years ago, Netflix chimed in on Twitter (though that was also fake) and joked that they would cast Tom Holland in every single role. They even created parody character posters featuring Holland as Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and even Tingle.

This of course made its way to Reddit and fans had a blast making fun of the “casting.”

“Oh man, I can’t wait for the epic showdown where Tom Holland finally defeats evil Tom Holland, rescues kidnapped Tom Holland, and saves the day,” reads Tramkrad’s top comment under the post.

User Godzilla_R0AR jumped on the bandwagon, saying, “Undetectable Tom looks pretty good as Tingle.”

One user, no longer on Reddit, imagined the unimaginable: “Lol Tom Holland makes the Great Fairy moan.”

When one member mentioned that they hadn’t seen a particular character poster, user StationaryTravels replied, “Oh, you haven’t found the 900 seeds scattered throughout various Netflix originals to unlock it yet… This is totally worth it! Good luck!”, poking fun at the endless collecting in the newer Zelda games.

Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we will finally find out who will actually play Link and Zelda – who have a huge burden on their shoulders – and we can stop fan-casting.

While it was fun to watch fans choose who they wanted in the live-action adventure, millions of fans are hoping that Nintendo can have a hand in selecting the best actors for the roles, after all, it’s something we’ve all wanted for many years.
