Tyrod Taylor compares Jets to Giants: “Refreshing energy” here

Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been Daniel Jones’ backup for the New York Giants for the past two seasons, giving him plenty of playing time.

In his two seasons with the Giants, Taylor appeared in 14 games, including five starts. He completed 64.9 percent of his passes for 1,399 yards, scored six touchdowns and four interceptions, and ran for 267 yards.

During the offseason, Taylor decided to find a new home without actually moving, signing a two-year, $12 million contract with the New York Jets, where he will back up future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.

Even though the setting is the same, Taylor feels like there is more energy in the Jets’ locker room than the Giants’.

“No disrespect to (the Giants) or anything, but when I came here and was with the guys in Phase One, it brought new energy to the whole locker room,” Taylor said, via the Jets’ official website.

“It’s just different on the field. I’ve been on a couple different teams and had a chance to try this out for a couple different teams. I think we’re in a good position. There’s just room for growth and I think everyone obviously wants to be a part of something special, but it’s about getting the job done. That’s what we’re focused on.”

Taylor did not elaborate on what improves the energy, but it is believed that the Jets are in a more competitive position than the Giants despite their disappointing 2023 season played without Rodgers.

The Giants, on the other hand, continue to flounder and seem to be trapped in a perpetual cycle of rebuilding – something that could take its toll in the locker room.
