Veniamin Kondratiev, governor of Russia’s Krasnodar region, said on July 5 that a drone strike on the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk killed a six-year-old girl and injured at least five others, including a child.

Ukraine has not commented on the allegations and the claims could not be independently verified.

The Russian Defense Ministry also claimed that 14 drones were shot down over Krasnodar Krai, a region in southern Russia that borders the Russian-occupied Georgian region of Abkhazia to the south and occupied Crimea to the west.

Kondratiev claimed that a three-story residential building in the city was damaged in the attack. The Telegram channel Baza shared a photo of a damaged building and said it showed the aftermath of the alleged attack in Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

There is a Russian air force base in Primorsko-Akhtarsk from which military jets and drones regularly launch attacks on Ukraine.

Russia had previously claimed responsibility for Ukrainian attacks on military and industrial targets in the Krasnodar region, and Kyiv confirmed some of these attacks.
