A new day, a new object: Morgan Wallen attacked with cell phone at concert in Denver

Morgan Wallen’s concert at Mile High Stadium in Denver on Wednesday (July 3) was interrupted when a fan threw an iPhone at him during his performance of “Cowgirls.”

In a video captured by an audience member, Wallen is seen singing the hit when a phone hits him on the shoulder. The singer barely bats an eyelid, picks it up and throws it back into the crowd before continuing his performance.

Wallen has had a turbulent time with fans throwing objects at him. During a March 2023 show in Melbourne, Australia, the “Last Night” singer narrowly missed a drink thrown by an audience member.

In a fan video capturing the wild moment, Wallen stops the music and stares at the spot where the cup came from as the crowd screams, “Throw her out! Throw her out!” Wallen points and says, “Keep going. One of you own up or I’ll throw your whole damn group out. One of you says, ‘I did it.’ All right, then throw the boy out of here.”

Then the singer was hit in the face with women’s underwear during a performance in Minneapolis last month.

The incident is part of a disturbing trend of fans throwing objects at artists that continues to grow.

In June 2023, Pink was shocked when a fan threw her mother’s ashes on stage during a performance at BST Hyde Park. Likewise, Cardi B was pelted with water during a concert in August 2023 and Bebe Rexha was hit with a phone in June 2023, causing injuries.

Harry Styles and Kid Cudi have also struggled with similar disorders: Styles was hit in the eye by a Skittle during a 2022 show in Los Angeles and Kid Cudi cut his Loud rolling was shortened because fans threw bottles at him.

In addition to these incidents, Wallen recently got into legal trouble for throwing objects himself.

On April 7, he was arrested for allegedly throwing a chair from a rooftop bar in Nashville, just days after he and his One night after another North American tour.

He was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disturbing the peace. The case is expected to continue over the summer, with the next hearing scheduled for August 15.

Despite his legal troubles, Wallen’s popularity continues to rise. His collaborative song “I Had Some Help” with Post Malone recently rebounded from No. 2 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking its sixth consecutive week at the top. The song, Post Malone’s sixth chart-topper and Wallen’s second, spent its first five weeks at No. 1 on the chart, beginning with its debut in May.

The collaboration is the first to spend six weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2024, surpassing the five weeks at the top (out of six total since late 2023) of Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me.” No song has stayed at No. 1 for longer since Wallen’s “Last Night” spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in March-August of last year.

“I Had Some Help” also reached number one on the radio song charts, making it one of the rare tracks to top both the all-format airplay statistics and the country airplay survey.
