(MENAFN-IANS) New Delhi, July 5 (IANS) India has dominated the global discourse by emphasising the government’s intention to democratise artificial intelligence (AI) and make it accessible to all.

At the just-concluded Global IndiaAI Mission summit in the country’s capital, developing countries praised India’s role in giving them a voice at the global AI forum and bridging the gap with the North.

More than 2,000 global AI experts, policymakers, artificial intelligence (AI) practitioners, industry/startups and academia are attending the summit, and over 10,000 AI enthusiasts are participating in the sessions virtually.

“Sessions on the key pillars of the IndiaAI Mission showcased India’s planned actions and commitment to build an inclusive and robust AI ecosystem in the country and lead global AI innovation,” the IT Ministry said.

The Collaborative AI on Global Partnership (CAIGP) conference brought together GPAI members, AI experts and industry representatives to identify mechanisms to bridge the global AI divide.

The members reached a consensus on the future vision of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI).

“Overall, the summit resulted in in-depth deliberations and yielded deep insights on several implementation aspects of the IndiaAI Mission,” the ministry said.

The IndiaAI Mission has been approved with a budget of Rs 10,372 crore, of which Rs 2,000 crore will be used to support the Indian startup ecosystem in developing indigenous AI-based solutions.

Support would also include resolving issues related to compute power, datasets and capabilities, and access to GPU infrastructure would be provided at a subsidized rate.

The findings show that India has a competitive advantage in AI due to skills, market and demand.

“For entrepreneurs, value creation and return on investment over cost will be the key catalyst. The IndiaAI Mission can bring down the cost of innovation and indigenous development,” the ministry noted.
