BELL ACRES, Pa. (KDKA) – Sewickley Heights Golf Club is home to several par 5 holes that stretch for more than 600 yards, and the 17th hole is among the best in our area.

The 17th hole is 559 meters long and has a large water hazard.

Head golf professional Steve Hopley showed KDKA-TV’s Bob Pompeani his ideal technique, which involves hitting a driver but keeping as much of the water that might come into play as possible out of the way.

The second shot on the 17th hole at Sewickley Heights Golf Club presents quite a challenge with a water surface.

With a good drive, you can try to reach the green in two shots, but this is a huge challenge.

“250 meters against the wind, that’s quite a challenge,” said Hopley.

If you use a short iron on your second shot, your approach shot to the green will be 100 to 110 meters away.

The green presents its own challenges, as even a shot at pin height can roll back to the front of the green without proper spin control.
