Sonic introduces new $1.99 menu with queso wraps, tater tots and more

Sonic is jumping on the cheap meal bandwagon with its latest menu offering. The fast-food giant has announced the comeback of its $1.99 menu.

This great-value selection is available at Sonic locations nationwide. Sonic joins a number of other restaurants, including McDonald’s and Wendy’s, that are launching a value menu.

In recent years, fast food prices have risen sharply, by 28 percent since 2019.

Tantalizing options on the menu include Queso Wraps, which come in two delicious varieties: The Bacon Ranch features juicy white meat, crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, tender ranch dressing and white queso wrapped in a toasted flour tortilla, while the Southwest Crunch features juicy white meat, creamy Southwest sauce, crispy tortilla strips, melted cheddar cheese and white queso, all cozy in a flour tortilla.

The menu also features other delicious options like a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Coney, Small Tots, and a selection of Sonic Shakes in a 16-ounce cup with flavors like Strawberry, Chocolate, and OREO Cheesecake.

In a press release, Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer, noted, “Now more than ever, consumers value affordable food, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old discounts or boring meals.”

“Many restaurant brands advertise cheap meals and discounts, and you see a lot of recycled ideas with limited options. At SONIC, we wanted to do something different, something fun, so we focused on variety, which is why we’re introducing the new $1.99 menu, or as we like to call it, the FUN.99 menu.”

The Value Meals offer app users additional benefits. Sonic customers can get drinks and slushies at half price any time they order through the app.

In addition, they can enjoy half-price cheeseburgers on Tuesday nights and receive exclusive monthly rewards.

Dickerson added, “The FUN.99 menu is all about choice and fun. Whether you want one of our twelve shake flavors, a chili cheese coney, or our legendary tots as a midday snack, you can get it all for just $1.99.”
