“HELLO MAURITIUS, HELLO HERITAGE GOLF CLUB!” MARCEL SIEM “LOVES LIFE” AND TAKES HIS SIXTH DP WORLD TOUR TITLE, THIS TIME IN ITALY

(Heritage Golf Club, Mauritius) – “Hello Mauritius! Hello Heritage Golf Club! I love you there! See you soon!” These were the jubilant words that the colorfully dressed Marcel Siem shouted into a live television camera as he celebrated his sixth DP World Tour victory at the Italian Open on Sunday (July 30).

The Heritage Golf Club ambassador, who lives in Mauritius with his family, completed a remarkable comeback in only his fourth tournament since hip surgery, holing a 22-foot birdie putt on the final hole to force a playoff that he would later win.

“I love life, I love golf, it can’t get any better at the moment,” said an enthusiastic Siem in his typical tropical outfit. “I love this sport and these moments. I work really hard for it. When you get rewarded like this, it’s something very special.”

Siem is indeed a hard worker and can be found most days in the gym at the beachfront Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort and on the practice range at the adjacent Heritage Golf Club. He has also been honing his swing at La Réserve Golf Links, the first links golf course in the Indian Ocean, before competing in The Open at Royal Troon this month.

The Heritage Golf Club in Mauritius is one of the 25 best golf resorts in the world and is located on the 2,500 hectare Bel Ombre estate, embedded in a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

The club’s new golf course, La Réserve Golf Links, opened to worldwide acclaim in December 2023 and will host the Mauritius Open in the same month.

Siem, who won the Indian Open last year and hopes to continue his winning streak this week at the BMW International Open in Germany, now has two big goals: to play in the Ryder Cup and the Masters.

“My big goal is to make the Ryder Cup team,” he said after his victory in Italy. “I’ve never played in the Ryder Cup or the Masters. Those are my two big goals and whatever happens along the way, I’ll take it and keep working even harder. I just love it. I love life at the moment. It’s great.”
