Repetition helps Giants

A day after successfully overturning a decision at the plate to prevent a point, San Francisco received further help from a replay review to prevent a possible comeback by Atlanta.

Marcel Ozuna appeared to hit an infield single after Giants first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. caught an infield grounder and threw the ball to Webb, who was trying to cover first base. Webb’s first attempt to step on base was short, but he quickly recovered, although umpires initially declared Ozuna safe.

After Melvin came out of the dugout to appeal, the play was reviewed and the decision was changed.

Yaz leaves the team due to injury

Yaz was hit in the right elbow by a 92.3 mph fastball from Charlie Morton in the fourth inning. Yastrzemski was obviously in pain and stood a few feet from the plate while grimacing and holding his arm. Before he stepped on first base, Yaz’s elbow was visibly swollen.
