Police seek witnesses in connection with death in ravine on south side

The vehicle, a grey Hyundai Sante Fe SUV (model years 2012 to 2017), was reported to have been parked in the Mill Creek Ravine parking lot shortly before Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) arrived at 8:12 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Investigators believe the vehicle and its occupants may have been engaging in activities related to Threna Waskahats death and are asking the public for help in locating the vehicle and its occupants. Photos of the vehicle taken by nearby surveillance cameras are included below.

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Southwest Branch patrol officers were called by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) for a fatality in Millcreek Ravine, north of 85 Avenue and west of the Millcreek Ravine parking lot. EFRS responded to a reported fire in the area and found one person dead after extinguishing the fire.

The Edmonton Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 and confirmed the death of Threna Waskahat, 31was a homicide. The cause of death is not being disclosed for investigation reasons.
