M-99 closed at I-96 in Lansing on Tuesday due to bridge deck work

LANSING, Michigan – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close M-99 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) at I-96 in Lansing overnight Tuesday for bridge deck work.

This work is part of a three-year, $44 million investment in I-96. The project includes rebuilding the eastbound and westbound I-96 bridges over Billwood Highway, the Grand River, M-99 and Washington Avenue. Most of the work will be completed in 2023 and 2024, with roadwork and crossing removal taking place in 2025.

This project is part of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state’s highways and bridges, which are critical to the state’s economy and carry most of its traffic. The investment strategy aims to make repairs that will extend service life and improve the condition of the state’s infrastructure.
