Song Hawkins – The Dispatch

COLUMBUS – Song J. “Larry” Hawkins, 66, died June 11, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice-Tupelo.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Greater Mt. Olive MB Church in Crawford. Donald Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The viewing will be on Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hawkins was born on April 18, 1958 in Crawford to the late Orange Payne Sr. and Fannie Hawkins. He was a graduate of Motley High School and was previously employed by Sanderson Plumbing and Dutch Oil.

His siblings Ida Amos, Joanne Cox, Orange Payne Jr., Robert Payne and Louise Poole died before him.

He is survived by his siblings, Evelyn Gardner of Crawford, Twila Hawkins of Cleveland, Ohio, Peggie Payne of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Betty Webb, Freddie Payne and Buster Payne, all of Columbus, Robert Lee Harris of San Antonio, Texas, and Pearlie Nance of West Point; his stepchildren Sheree Govan, Carlton Robinson, Donya Robinson, Carl Brooks and Alvin Brooks; and seven step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Victor Payne, Frederick Hawkins, Devarsionta Williams and Dewayne Nance.
