Spider-Man animated series on Disney+ receives exciting update from Marvel TV boss

Head of Marvel Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, recently shared fascinating details about the highly anticipated series, Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The 2D animated series is set in Peter Parker’s early years as Spider-Man and his time at high school. Hudson Thames from Marvel’s What if…? will play the web-slinger as the series explores his formative experiences. He was created by Jeff Trammell, known for his work on Cartoon Network Craig from the CreekPeter Parker is accompanied as he gets used to his new-found abilities and experiences his first encounters as a superhero.

Little has been officially announced about the project so far, but in a recent interview on the official Marvel podcast, he said: Winderbaum explains what makes the series uniqueand how Jeff Trammell had similar experiences on Craig from the Creek.


“The show has incredible twists and turns, but the real strength is in the ensemble, in the neighborhood… He (Jeff Trammell) elevates that in such a big way by playing with characters like – not just Peter Parker – Nico Minoru, Lonnie Lincoln, my personal favorite Harry Osborn and others who complete this teenage ensemble.”

The reveal helps audiences understand that, much like Tom Holland’s web-slinger, who was very different from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man will have new experiences and surprising encounters in the animated series. Winderbaum’s recent update sets the stage for the series to explore Harry Osborn’s character, which is exciting.

Spider-Man cartoons have been entertaining fans on television for decades. Spectacular Spider-Man was highly praised for its script, talented voice actors and its exploration of darker themes. The latest Spidey and his amazing friends was aimed at young children and showed the Spider Verse characters at preschool age. And that without mentioning the efforts of the 90s Spider-Man: The Animated Seriesthat could one day experience a revival, similar to the extremely popular X-Men ’97.

It shares continuity with the live-action films, allowing fans to learn more about the MCU’s Spider-Man. So far, Holland’s Peter Parker has been less traditional than the other iterations. Thames’ reprising the role could eventually lead to the present and future of his story. But that’s not all – his presence in the sprawling universe opens up new opportunities for crossovers and cameos from popular MCU characters. Early rumors even suggest that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio could reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively.
