4-star guard Isaiah Denis from 2025 officially visits Michigan Basketball

4-star guard Isaiah Denis from 2025 officially visits Michigan Basketball

Michigan basketball coach Dusty May has finalized his roster for the 2024-25 season, but the Wolverines’ new head coach is also tasked with rebuilding the program for the future.

May and his team have worked hard on recruiting to achieve that goal and have positioned themselves well for one of the top guards in the 2025 class. This past weekend, four-star combo guard Isaiah Denis of Davidson (NC) Day secured an official visit to Ann Arbor, scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 21. The 6-foot-5, 175-pound player will also visit Pittsburgh (Aug. 30) and Ohio State (Sept. 7) this fall.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Denis is considered the No. 76 overall prospect, No. 14 combo guard and No. 3 player out of North Carolina in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He has received over 20 scholarship offers so far in his recruitment, including from Kansas, Virginia, NC State, LSU, Miami and others.

Michigan is still looking for its first signing in the 2025 recruiting class after falling short in the battle for the four-star shooting guard from Cleveland (Ohio) Richmond Heights Dorian Joneswho committed to Ohio State on Tuesday, and is part of a top four that also includes the Wolverines, Rutgers and Missouri. Michigan also recently named five-star point guard Darius Acuff Jr. of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, to the “top four” – the No. 8 player overall, No. 1 point guard and No. 2 player from the state of Florida in the class of 2025. Acuff Jr. is also considering Connecticut, Arkansas and Kansas.

May and his team have been actively looking for players since assembling their 2024-25 roster. In addition to Denis and Acuff Jr., the Wolverines are also on the hunt for five-star small forward Gilbert (Arizona) Perry Koa PeatFive-star point guard from Atlanta (Ga.) Meleek Thomas and four-star shooting guard from Greenfield (Ind.) Central Braylon Mullinsamong others.
