Sonic launches $1.99 menu with queso wrap, hash browns, milkshake and more

Sonic is jumping on the cheap meal bandwagon with its new menu selection. The fast food chain announced the return of its $1.99 menu.

The menu is available at Sonic locations nationwide. Sonic is one of several restaurants offering a value menu, from McDonald’s to Wendy’s.

Inflation has hit fast food restaurant menus in recent years, with prices rising 28 percent since 2019.

Queso Wraps are one of the items on the menu and come in two flavors: Bacon Ranch features white meat, bacon, melted cheddar cheese, creamy ranch dressing and white queso in a warm flour tortilla, while Southwest Crunch features white meat, creamy Southwest sauce, tortilla strips, melted cheddar cheese and white queso in a flour tortilla.

Other options on the menu include a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Coney, Small Tots and any of 12 flavors of Sonic Shakes in the 16-ounce size, including strawberry, chocolate and OREO Cheesecake.

Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release: “Now more than ever, consumers value affordable food options, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old discounts or boring meals.”

“Many restaurant brands advertise cheap meals and discounts, and you see a lot of recycled ideas with limited options. At SONIC, we wanted to do something different – something fun – so we focused on variety, which is why we’re introducing the new $1.99 menu, or as we like to call it, the FUN.99 menu.”

The value meals offer more for those who use the app. Sonic customers can get drinks and slushies for half price anytime when ordering through the app.

They also receive half-price cheeseburgers on Tuesday nights and exclusive monthly rewards.

Dickerson continued, “The FUN.99 menu is all about choice and fun. Whether you want one of our twelve shake flavors, a chili cheese coney, or our legendary tots for a midday snack, it’s all for just $1.99.”
