The Galaxy Book 4 Edge is now available in stores and prices start at just $1350 and go up depending on the configuration you choose. Of course, the 16-inch model also costs more than the 14-inch version. However, there aren’t too many options to consider, so keep that in mind.

Design and display

The core design is a match

Considering that both devices are Galaxy Books, the overall design language fits. Either way, you get a slim, lightweight laptop that still looks and feels premium and classy. Plus, both come in 14-inch and 16-inch versions, so you can choose which you prefer.

Here too, the dimensions and weight are almost the same. As described above, both are thin, light devices that are therefore easy to transport. However, the 16-inch models are of course significantly heavier than their 14-inch counterparts.

The displays are also quite similar, with both featuring an AMOLED 2X panel with a 2880 x 1800 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. However, note that the resolution is the same on the 14-inch and 16-inch models, so you won’t get a higher resolution on the larger screen.

Finally, both have fairly standard 1080p webcams, which are sufficient for the occasional Zoom meeting or video call. Overall, it’s hard to say there are much differences between these devices in terms of design and display, so it’s a tie in this category.

Hardware and performance

Snapdragon vs Intel

The hardware of these two machines is generally similar, but there is one big difference.

The Edge is equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite chip, while the Pro is equipped with an Intel Core 7 155H chip. The Intel chip is no slouch and will give you no trouble running virtually any app you can think of. However, in most benchmarks, the Snapdragon manages to come out on top.

There’s one important caveat to keep in mind: while the Snapdragon is a powerful chip, not all Windows apps work with it yet, so if you absolutely need great performance for a particular app, it’s worth checking online to see how it performs on a Snapdragon-powered laptop, just to make sure it’s not an outlier.

Additionally, both come with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. That’s certainly not the highest performance currently available on the market, but it should be more than enough for most users and use cases. In any case, the chip is the biggest hardware difference.

What’s more, the Snapdragon chip also enables Copilot+ support on the Edge, so if you’re looking for a cutting-edge laptop with the latest and greatest mobile AI technology, the Edge is definitely worth a look – assuming you’ve been swept up in the AI craze like everyone else.

And since the Snapdragon on the Edge is hard to beat, it’s our ultimate winner here.

Battery life

The Snapdragon has impressive efficiency

Right ports of the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge

We haven’t had a chance to test the Pro yet, but have tested the Edge directly, but have experience with other 155H laptops for comparison.

During our time with the Edge, we were able to get through a full workday without needing to plug the device into a power outlet, which is pretty impressive. This strong performance is undoubtedly thanks to the power-efficient Snapdragon chip in the Edge. With the Pro, which has a 155H processor, we’d definitely expect less than a full day of battery life on average, but your personal range may vary.

Nevertheless, the Edge is definitely the first choice if you value the best battery life.

An impressive all-round machine

With a powerful Snapdragon chip, a gorgeous display, and excellent battery life, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge is an all-around laptop to beat and is the overall winner in our eyes. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider getting a Pro, depending on what you need.

For example, if you need to run apps that don’t work well on ARM, that’s a good reason to go for a Pro. Or maybe you just don’t need the best performance or don’t care much about AI features and would rather save some money on the Pro. Either way, it’s worth considering and we hope you find a computer that fully meets your needs!
