Josh Hartnett loves Taylor Swift just like his character in “The Bear”

Viewers who I have already watched all ten episodes of The bear’In the third season on Hulu, viewers were pleasantly surprised to see Josh Hartnett guest star. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Hartnett said he was friends with series creator Chris Storer. When Storer called his agent to ask if he wanted to be on the show, Hartnett said “immediately yes” before even reading the script.

His appearance on the show is brief, playing the role of Frank, the new fiancé of Richie’s (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) ex-wife. But he made the most of his fleeting moments on camera and won over audiences with his friendly, personable interactions with Richie.

“I was thinking about who Tiff goes with after Richie. And what kind of person goes into that situation knowing Tiff’s history with Richie. The guy has to be relatively confident. And there has to be a contrast to Richie’s character,” Hartnett said.

“And then when I got the script, my reaction was what a wonderful way of interacting between the two of them. I also knew it would be fun to work with Ebon (Moss-Bachrach) because we’ve known each other for a long time from New York and had never worked on a project together before.”

One thing Hartnett has in common with his character is his affinity for Taylor Swift. In the show, Swift’s music plays in the background while Frank and Richie chat outside Frank’s house. The popular singer-songwriter was also part of the last season of The bear when Frank took Richie’s daughter to a Swift concert. Hartnett revealed in his Hollywood Reporter Interview that he visited Swift in real life with his own daughters.

“Funny enough, I was on the Eras tour recently with my daughters and it was wild,” said the actor. “I’ve never seen anything like it: 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium going crazy, including my two daughters. And the people were so respectful, my daughters got so many wristbands and everything was really sweet. It was a good event for my daughters’ first concert.”

Hartnett added that he had to keep his appearance The bear a secret. “I felt that the city of Chicago really protected The bear,” he said. “People there love this show and it feels like it’s an unwritten rule that you don’t give it away. And certainly no one who’s on the show wants to give it away. It’s so much more fun to have that last-minute reveal. I told my parents because they love the show, and I told a few friends who love the show. But I don’t have social media or anything, so it feels like I’m wondering who I should really tell.”

Hartnett will next be seen in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller Catch. It’s about a father, played by Hartnett, who goes to a big pop concert with his daughter (notice a leitmotif here?), sees the police surrounding the arena, and learns that they are setting a “trap” to catch a serial killer called “The Butcher” who is believed to be there.

Catch will be released in theaters on August 9. Alongside Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Hayley Mills and Allison Pill will star. Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka, a musician, will play pop star Lady Raven and has also written some of her own songs for the film.
