The Horizon Zero Dawn series is reportedly “no longer being pursued” at Netflix

According to a new report, a Netflix series based on the hit sci-fi video game “Horizon Zero Dawn” will not continue.

In 2022, Sony announced that it would make a TV adaptation of its hit video game series Horizon Zero Dawn – a joint project with Netflix and one of several planned films and shows based on PlayStation properties.

However, according to a new report from Rolling Stone, the series is “no longer moving forward” at the streaming giant. The culprit appears to be Steve Blackman, the showrunner who delivered one of Netflix’s most successful series, The Umbrella Academy, in 2019. According to Rolling Stone’s reporting, Blackman was accused of a “long history of toxic, bullying, manipulative and vindictive behavior” in a human resources complaint received by the network. Blackman has denied the allegations through a spokesperson.

The success of comic series The Umbrella Academywhich is just behind Stranger Things And The Sorcerer as Netflix’s most watched TV shows, Black man at the head of a Horizon Zero Dawn series and a separate sci-fi project called Orbital. The horizon (not to be confused with Kevin Costner’s Western film series) is only briefly mentioned in the Rolling Stone report, so it is unclear how much work on the series has already been completed.

Sony also enjoyed great success with The last of us, an adaptation of his post-apocalyptic horror game series; the second season was produced in collaboration with HBO and developed by showrunner Craig Mazin. Filming is currently underway. Other PlayStation products to be adapted include God of War, Days Gone And Gravity – an excerpt from it appeared on the Internet in January.

Between The Super Mario Bros. Movie And Sonic the Hedgehog in cinemas and The last of us And Stand out on television, video game adaptations are big business these days. However, if this latest report is true, it is unlikely that we will see Horizon Zero Dawn on the small screen in the foreseeable future.
