Airbnb’s new icon feature lets you book stays at famous homes and pop culture locations

The company introduced its Icon category, described as “extraordinary experiences from the world’s greatest icons.”

Guests are welcomed by Kevin Hart and Doja Cat, stay in Prince’s “Purple Rain” house or spend the night at the Musée d’Orsay.

“Icons transport you to worlds that previously existed only in your imagination,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, in a press release.

Throughout the year, Airbnb will release 11 Icon Stays across the United States and around the world.

Switch off in the “Up” house:

In Abiquiu, New Mexico, you can stay at Disney and Pixar’s most famous house by exploring Carl’s world in a detailed recreation – complete with more than 8,000 balloons. Oh, and in case you were wondering, it’ll be airborne.

Stay overnight at the Ferrari Museum:

If you like speed or love heavy machinery, you will find a bed in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy, that is made of the same leather as the Ferrari seats.

Become a VIP with Kevin Hart:

The comedian and actor takes you on a journey to his members-only Coramino Live Lounge for a night of high-class entertainment. You’ll meet Hart and his friends in this secret speakeasy where you can enjoy a tequila tasting and live stand-up performances.

Waking up at the Musée d’Orsay:

Stay in the iconic Clock Room of the Paris Art Museum, and watch the Olympic Games opening ceremony from the terrace along the Seine.

Join a living room session with Doja Cat:

In an intimate experience, the singer will welcome you and give a performance of her favorite songs and her latest album in your living room.

Stay at Prince’s Purple Rain House:

Prince has bought the Minneapolis mansion from the movie “Purple Rain” and so far no one has been able to visit the property. You have the opportunity to stay in the mansion and listen to rare songs by the rock music icon.

Live like Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor:

Join Bollywood star Kapoor for a stylish trip to her family home in Chennai, India. This intimate experience includes learning her beauty secrets and sampling her favorite South Indian dishes.

You are cordially invited to spend the night at headquarters, also known as Riley’s emotional control center.

How to book

The listings are not all published at once. To secure your booking, Airbnb will raffle off an offer.

Any guest can make a booking request for the location as soon as it goes online (news.airbnb.com).

From there, those selected will receive a “digital golden ticket.” The experiences cost less than $100 per guest—some are even free.
