Cody Taylor shows progress in Arkansas training camp

FAYETTEVILLE – Cody Taylor, offensive guard in the Greenwood class of 2026, has been a regular at Arkansas football camps.

Taylor, 6-3, 278, was one of the best campers on Saturday while working with Eric Mateos on the offensive line. After camp concluded, Taylor talked about how this year’s camping trip went.

“The camp went really well,” Taylor said. “Coach Mateos, their new offensive line coach, is doing some things differently and I like the way he coaches. He really follows the guys up on technique and what to do right.”

Taylor had already worked with Mateos at another school the previous year.

“I had one with him at Baylor,” Taylor said.

Taylor has nine scholarship offers, but none from Arkansas yet. Was anything said about that on Saturday?

“No offer, he just wants me to develop my explosive power,” Taylor said. “My lateral quickness, he said, is really good.”

Although he didn’t get the offer, Taylor felt he learned things at camp that served him well at Greenwood. Taylor also praised his offensive line coach with the Bulldogs.

“Yes, sir, I think there are things I don’t understand about high school football,” Taylor said. “He teaches me things I’m doing wrong. Coach (Austin) Moreton is also a great offensive line coach. I wouldn’t be where I am without him.”

An interesting piece of information is that while Taylor was training in Arkansas, he received a text message from Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.
