Polish Club announces new album “Heavy Weight Heart”

Sydney duo Polish Club has announced their fourth album. Heavy heart.

The album will be released on September 13th, but for now, fans can enjoy the new single “How Dare You Fall in Love in This City” below.

The single was created in one take, and co-writer Robby De Sa praised the track’s authenticity (hence its quick completion). “HDYFILITS” complements their ongoing album release, which began in April with the first release titled “Manila.”

“HDYFILITS” was released as a companion track to “Manila” and, according to Polish Club, is her hometown. “Both songs deal with the idea of not being sure whether or not you’re happy in the place in question (Manila or Sydney).”

“This was the track on the album that caused us the most stress in the studio,” says David Novak, one half of the duo. “We spent more time than ever chasing synth and guitar sounds.”

Although the album will not be released until mid-September, it is already finished, having been recorded last September at Golden Retriever Studios in Marrickville.

Heavy heart will be ten tracks long and will cover Novak’s battle with congenital heart disease and his preparation for the successful surgery last January. If you’re a fan of Polish Club, you know that their music is mostly energetic, but they promise it’s still on-brand.

“We thought this would be our last record on a major label, so we wrote a lot of great stadium rock songs that were meant for a full band vibe,” says Novak. “The album strikes a perfect balance between hard and soft, sincerity and boldness.”

In the last decade, Polish Club released albums such as It’s nothing And Now we cook, But Heavy heart will be the band’s first independent release, which both Novak and John-Henry Pajak are excited about.

They are also working on releasing an Australian album in October. Tickets are on sale now (see full details below).
